Indie Apocalypse

(this post began as a response to a status on facebook*, I originally intended to just write the first line and click ‘comment’… it was then suggested that I should blog it, so here it is.)

*(this was in response to, “You hate hippies/hipsters, yet you’re obsessed with them on so many levels”)

.

I don’t hate hippies. at all.

however, I will not disagree with the hipster portion. and I won’t argue with some degree of obsessive hatred.

I will only add that I obsessively dislike ALL elitism. hipsters have earned a special little place in my shriveled black heart simply because credit isn’t due, their sense of entitlement is entirely without basis.

they are often pseudo-intellectual, musical snobs, who cultivate elitism to disguise their lack of personality, andor sense of humor. take a hipster out of their ‘element’ and they are quickly exposed as the dorky kids desperate for acceptance that they are in truth.

in short, they symbolize everything that is wrong with this country, and why we are rapidly losing ground as a world power. they are the romans who hired mercenaries to fight their wars, instead of picking up a sword with the hand not holding the plow. when the barbarians turned around and knocked down the gates, they rolled over and quickly took it up the keister.

our spine-less michael cera loving society is that generation.

I’m guessing you probably haven’t seen many hipsters lining up to get recruited. neither have I. we have poor minority folk and rednecks to handle that. you know, the people hipsters mock, and are scared to death of. however, the tide is turning. it is becoming increasingly acceptable to act like an entitled, sarcastic, little punk bitch. this is also how we are starting to behave as a nation.

they revolt me, because they personify our coming doom.

I’ve heard the swan-song of this brave little toaster we call america,

… and it sounds like wilco.
